Is there an internal tag that tells which language is active on the HMI?
I wish to make something happen (changing flags) and show current active language in a button.

Project texts is easy to get language dependant, but i have not found out how to make an easy library object to work with language (minimize configuration from user since it should be a standardized object for this factory)

Preferable i would like to use some scripting or something inside the library object, else providing language by string or number thru interface option could work if its easy to put up the tag in the hmi etc.

The value of the object property "HMIRuntime.Language" returns the language ID of the language currently selected and assigns the relevant value to the process tags. (See https://support.industry.siemens.com/cs/us/en/view/109478713).

 The easy way (works on Basic and Comfort panels both) is to add a entry in the "Project graphics" list, and select a country flag for each language. Then add a button and choose to use a graphic (NOT graphic list!) for the button.Then add the graphic list name to field "Graphic when button is not pressed". In button events, add a "Click" function "SetLanguage" and the function for this operation "Toggle".

This way the button will always show the country flag of the active language.

 Hi, Does'nt this method require ALOT of work as its not becoming a standard library item ("faceplate")?

We have 43 projects with 2-9 panels EACH, it seems it would be too much work to maintain this and keep it up to date, as library ojects would be a faster update.

I am thinking a 2 part solution, one script with internal tags and a button.
Seems it would require the least effort to implement it by dragging out 1 script, 1 tag-table and one button/icon and connect the tags that needs be, then if an update happens to the script or button, its easy applied to all panels in the project with a simple update.

 Well, it takes under 5min's to do. When it's done, you can just copy the button from display project to another. At the copy, it moves the graphics and everything. To me it seems more work with scripts... I have had no need to change anything on it, it works on all panel types and WinCC Flex & TIA Portal. Doesn't matter what display you have, or even if you have a runtime, it still works.
