Invalid data type error

Hello,

A little question,

I get an error with the SCL code below, Invalid data type.
When i replace DB2001.DBW2 := Value; and make it DB2001.DBW2 := 20; the error is gone. 

Why do i get this invalid data type error?

FUNCTION FC1 : VOID

1. what is data type of DBW2 in the data block? compiler may raise an error if DBW is Word

and Your local variable is INT

2. to make code easier to read I use standard of naming:

Inputs: I_<NAME>

Outputs: Q_<NAME>

In/Out: IQ_<Name>

Temp: Temp // upper/lower case with no prefix

Stat [FB ONLY]: STAT; // all uppercase

Physical In/Outs use

I_<NAME> - physical input; name contains indent from drawings for example LS1

Q_<NAME>- physical outpout; name contains indent from drawings for example K1

in code You can distuinuish what is what without looking at the interface and

physical in/out from Fc/FB in/out because physical are shown in "" and local are shown with # before the name.

3. please remember, ALL Local TEMP variables MUST be written to before You read from them:

INTERFACE:

TEMP:

Temp_Variable: Int // Integer Variable.

CODE:

DB2001.DBW2:=#Temp_Variable; // This is WRONG because value in #Variable is not known (RANDOM!!!)

Temp_Variable:= <Equation>;

DB2001.DBW2:=Temp_Variable; // This is CORRECT - #Variable was written to before You read from it.

DB2001.DBW2 is a Integer. See the attachment.

When i try the following code, i get the same error:

Hi

I programmed SCL in S7-1500.

What if You address it by symbol for example

"Parameters".Parameter1:=Variable;

also, the variable DB_VAR is not needed unless used in the code.

This variable is created when You create a new DB in STEP 7 Manager because

empty data block is invalid.

Once first variable is added to the data block placeholder can be removed.
