Invalid login attempts

nandgate Posts: 319 Rating: (9)	Hello All, I have a KTP 600 PN HMI which is connected to IM 151-8 PN/DP PLC. For accessing certain screens i have assigned security (The operator can enter that screen after entering a valid user ID and password). Whenever there is a invalid login attempt for a specific amount of times (in my case it is 9 times). The user ID gets frozen and inorder to restore the user ID i am forced to download the program once again. Is there anyway i can reset this problem without downloading the program ? But in future, the easies solution would be to set the invalid login attempts number to 0, meaning you can enter the wrong password for unlimited number of times. If you want to keep the option of 9 invalid login attempts, add "User view" control on some new screen, where only administrator can enter. The administrator has authority to "reset" locked user (just change his password and the return it to previous one). Best regards

With regards, nand gate. You can have a user with administrative rights level 9 that you only can access and with infinite login attempts number. All other users must be of level less than 9. You must have a screen with user administration which can not be accessed except by the administrator account. If one user is frozen, then you enter the user administration screen and authorize him.

With regards, nand gate. Hello, As you said you want to protect some screens than it is also possible to do it without using User Administration. Here you will find all the detailed information with Example. How can you create a protected user screen without using user administration? With use of user Administration , it is only possible via downloading again on invalid attempts. A user enters an incorrect password three times in succession, that user is entered in the "Unauthorized" group in the user administration. Only a user with administrator rights can reassign that user to a user group. Why can you no longer log on to the operator panel (or WinCC flexible Runtime)? Hope this helps.
