IOT2050 as ThinClient. Ideas?

Hello forum,

I am looking for ideas.
I would like to use the IOT2050 as a ThinClient.

As far as I know, I would need a graphical interface made from an
XServer, a login shell and an app for the protocol like VNC, RDP client, HTML Browser.

Are there any recommendations on how to set this up?
Which gui to choose?

Any ideas are welcome.

I tested xfce4 according to the advised procedures.
That worked, kind of.

With a root account chromium is not working (without insecure --no-sandbox option).

So one has to add a user, which is no problem.

Many applications are preinstalled in the xfce4 package. Which I do not want on a real THIN
client.

So I maybe go a route to install packages manually and on my demand.
I will test and report.

I did not test LXDE.

Maybe I set up a VM just to test. See my post reagrding VM and example image 

Edit: I just did a quick test for LXDE

Memory consumption is only 360meg out of 2 gig.
With a chromium browser instance this goes up to 560 meg which is still quite acceptable.

Running the thing through xrdp session. NICE.

But will be a weather station with a node-red dashboard and a local display in the end.
