IOT2050 root password

aurten Member Joined: 8/7/2020 Last visit: 6/26/2024 Posts: 8 Rating: (0)	Hello, I just acquired an IoT2050 (January 2022) When I turned it on for the first time, it asked me for a username and password and it didn't work with root/root. There is no installed, nor has there been any SD card with any image. After reboot it has started an installation wizard. This wizard has asked me, (among other things like IP...) to configure a user, and this is correct. Once I finish the installation and restart the IoT2050, I log in successfully with the user that I have configured. But wanting to be 'su', it asks me for a password and the 'root' password doesn't work. Which is root pw?

bergmanu Platinum Member Joined: 4/28/2015 Last visit: 11/12/2024 Posts: 3345 Rating: (379)	Hi, the IOT2050 Advanced comes with a pre-installed Industrial OS on the internal eMMc. This installation wizard or first setup is usual behavior with this image. For more information see here. The command su does not work on the Industrial OS. You can use sudo -i or sudo su instead. But that requires your user to have sudo priviledges (to be configured in the first setup). If you haven't configured the user to have sudo priviledges, you can login as root and call mel-setup, that opens the setup again and you can change this setting. The root password is as you set it in the first setup. Best regards!
