Hello automator; The following thread discussed the hardware options for conversion between a S5 and a S7-400 PLC: Change s5 to s7 This is the suggested hardware for replacement of a IP 252: IP 252 (Closed Loop Control Module) ---> FM 455 (or FM 355 if your new CPU is from the S7-300 family) And here are links to the Siemens Support page for the FM 355 and FM 455:
Some find them quite daunting and very complex. And compared to the functionnalities of the IP 252, they can be. You should decide whether your closed-loop control application really needs a FM 455/FM355, or if it can be controlled via the closed-loop integrated function blocks existing in your CPU: PID Block Diagram with FB41 (APPnote# 212) What should you watch out for when calling and assigning parameters to the controller functions in function blocks (S)FB41, (S)FB42 and (S)FB43? Where can you find descriptions and examples of PID control with FB 41, FB 42 and FB 43, and SFB 41, SFB 42 and SFB 43? Hope this helps, Daniel Chartier |
