ip port for port forwarding

I need to access plc through router with port forwarding. - Is it possible to set ip port for programing purposes, differentfor each plc ? It would be nice to program and monitor over internet.. thank you for any reply. :)

If i set plcs to port 4001, 4002, 4003 then it would be possible to access any of plcs by setting adequate port to step7 basic [with apropriate setting of port forwarding at router, like 4001port >> 192.168.0.91]. so if i would set step7 basic to 20.30.40.50/port:4001, while sitting at my home,it would be routed to my 1st plc at plant behind router. - is it possible to change port which step7 basic works with to comunicate to plc.?? if it is fixed to one value .. 102 .. then its possible to use this 'port forwarding' just to acces one plc. Iwonder did Siemens missed such a great oportunity to program and monitor over internet.

J_Bell Posts: 5822 Rating: (411)	Dear Kosta, I am not sure if you plan on using Port Forwarding as a programming interface to your site, if this is the case I can only warn you. It is absolutely not recommendable to do so, this way is surely not safe. If you want to use this solution intermittent you may have certain choices. First of all you may use PG Routing in between the PLC’s, as long as they are connected with each other over another LAN like MPI or PROFIBUS or a separate Ethernet. As a second solution I know that it is possible to map ports also in your PC. So if someone is capable of programming a “portmapper” from Port 102 to Port XYZ you may use Port Forwarding too. I know some departments which started solutionsin this way. Maybe something is available there... but this will be not for free. As the SAFE solution in my mind the VPN Solution is the only real safe way to go. I would strongly recommend this way, but this is up to you. Best regards J_Bell

Ill look into VPN documentation and will check PG routing tho im not yet familiar if its implemented for s7 1200. Kind regards Kosta

I am not familiar enough with this PLC type to say if PG Routing works there too, I fear even it does not... so please leave the PG Routing solution to the S7-300 and S7-400. Best regards J_Bell
