Hello MrPattathil; The following discussion (from another site i sometimes participate in) may offer some interesting timelines in the development of Smart Relays: http://www.plctalk.net/qanda/showthread.php?t=92599 The general conclusion from that discussion is that Siemens produced the first generation LOGO! as the first Smart relay on the market (1996); later Moeller and Mitsubishi developed and re-branded their model for other companies. It is not always easy to find precise information on re-branding and joint ventures between automation compaies, so this thread brings in a lot of interesting details, many of which must be taken as given. But you hav to take into account that different relays, though based on very similar hardware, offer different communication interfaces from one another : Logo! and IDEC come with an integrated Ethernet port, the Zelio reqires an add-on module for Ethernet connection, and the EASY uses RS-485 communication link, for example. And software capabilities, memory size and instruction lists vary from brand to brand. Hope this helps, Daniel Chartier |

LOGO! and Idec Smart Relay are no longer identical. Software Tested Logo!Soft Comfort V8.3.0 (2020-09-21 11-42) WindLGC V8.2.0 (2018-11-15 09-21) Hardware Tested 6ED1052-1MD00-0BA8 FW: V1.08.02 FS: 02 6ED1052-1MD08-0BA0 FW: V1.82.01 FS: 01 6ED1052-1MD08-0BA1 FW: V1.83.02 FS: 04 FL1F-H12RCE FW: V1.82.01 FS: 05 Logo!Soft Comfort is not able to download or upload projects to Idec Smart Relay FL1F-H12RCE V1.82.01. No other version tested here. However, I have used Logo!Soft Comfort on Smart Relay versions equivalent to Logo! versions 0BA6 and earlier. WindLGC V8.2 is able to download or upload projects to Logo! base module 6ED1052-1MD00-0BA8 V1.08.02. WindLGC V8.2 is not able to download or upload projects to Logo! base module 6ED1052-1MD08-0BA0 V1.82.01 or 6ED1052-1MD08-0BA1 V1.83.02. No other version tested here. Files Tested .lsc files created in WindLGC V8.2.0 can be opened, edited, and used by Logo!Soft Comfort V8.3.0. .lsc files created in Logo!Soft Comfort V8.3.0 can be opened, edited, and used by WindLGC V8.2.0 IF the hardware type selected before saving, was Logo! 8.1 or 8.2 or earlier. Files saved in Logo!Soft Comfort after selecting hardware type Logo! 8.3, will not open in WindLGC V8.2. To use these files in WindLGC V8.2, first open the file in Logo!Soft Comfort and select a previous hardware type, then save a copy with this new setting. The file will then open in WindLGC V8.2. User Manuals WindLGC Online Help (idec.com) Once you get past the Legal Info and the What’s new in…? sections, the manuals are nearly identical. A comparison of the What’s new in Version x sections shows that the brands don’t upgrade on the same schedule. You can see that Idec has incorporated more than one Logo! version change into one Idec version change. Project Interface If you look closely at the user interface on your computer, you may notice that the Brand Name and Icon are different between Logo!Soft Comfort and WindLGC. You will also notice the difference where a brand specific product name appears. Even a couple of identical function blocks have a different name, but the same icon. Outside of that, they’re a match. Networking Can the Logo! and the Idec be networked together? Yes, with some difficulty. Open Logo!Soft in network mode and add the two devices with their addresses and name them. Create split screen in diagram section and Import the two programs into the two windows. Create the network connections and Download the LOGO! program into the LOGO! Open WindLGC in network mode and add the two devices with their addresses and name them. Create split screen in diagram section and Import the two programs into the two windows. Create network connections identical to the ones above and Download the IDEC program into the Smart Relay. Logo! CIM The Logo! CIM does not upload or download data to the base module; it only reads/writes to memory locations, so its operation is unaffected by the brand selected. The CIM reacts the same to either module. Logo! CMR Not tested with the Logo! CMR. Siemens does not produce a CMR that works in our area. |
