Is it possible to configure this Ultrasonic flowmeter using a laptop?

The unit doesn't have a RS-232 port only a mini USB service port and Modbus A&B terminals. My question is it possible to configure this Ultrasonic flowmeter using a laptop? Thank you for your time... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Split from FST020 Profibus.

danw Gold Expert Joined: 3/28/2010 Last visit: 11/30/2024 Posts: 1090 Rating: (215)	The FST020 has never had HART to my knowledge. So it would have to use Modbus to communicate with PDM. The FS220 (which is an FST020 and transducers) spec sheet is in the Siemens 2021 catalog. Page 3-353 has this statement: "Fully compatible with Siemens PDM version 8.2 service pack 1 or higher." My caveat: the statement above probably infers that only recent FST020 units with the latest firmware are PDM compatible The 2012 catalog sheet (prior to the digital interface card) does not mention PDM for obvious reasons (no communications). The 2015 catalog sheet that has the Modbus interface does not mention PDM. I suspect that PDM had to be updated after the introduction of the Modbus function in order to communicate with the FST020/FS220. I believe PDM communicate over RS-485 because I have some vague memory of doing that the former Milltronics HydroRanger line ultrasonic transmitters. I guess you get to mess with PDM and its Modbus (presumably RS-485 Modbus RTU) setup and see whether you can get it to connect. Maybe PDM is documented somewhere; I could never find a users manual for it when I needed it 5-10 years ago
