I have the same question. How to check current firmware. I need to update PLC program. PLC is installed at position with no access. Only way to update software is with MMC transfer. This MMC must be pre-programmed at office and sent with courier to factory site where local engineer can complete software update process. Only problem is that I do not know what firmware version is installed on PLC. I know that no one has not updated firmware so it is original fat firmware. Is it possible to determine fat firmware by serial number? 6ES7 212-1HE40-0XB0 S C-EDS37587 2014 FS: 01 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ |

Hi a77, you can not read the original firmware version directly from the serial number, but you can compare manufacturing year/month to the release dates of the firmware versions. SCEDS37587 Here the third letter 'E' means 2014, and the fourth letter 'D' means december. the lowest firmware version for 6ES7 212-1HE40-0XB0 is 4.0 version 4.1 was released in december 2014, which is unfortunate in our case, but in the release notes for v4.1 it says: "New CPUs will be delivered with the new firmware as from end of January 2015." You can check the link to see for yourself: https://support.industry.siemens.com/cs/ww/en/view/106200276 |

Hi,
How do you load a project into an S7-1200 CPU if its firmware version cannot be selected in the hardware catalog of STEP 7 (TIA Portal)?regards sancruz |
