Is it possible to do on board software redundancy over profibus DP?

Guys,

I have attached a configuration below in which the software redundancy between two 315-2 DP PLCs is done via Profibus DP. I have 2 doubts:

1. is it possible to do on board profibus redundancy.
2. is it possible to connect hmi from the redundancy link like shown in the configuration.

Can someone help me with these doubts. Thanks in advance.

1- You can use the on-board Profibus interface on the CPUs to connect to the IM 153-2 remote I/O stations. Foir redundancy exchanges over Profibus you need a CP 342-5 on each rack.

2- Both the SWR manual and the proposed thread above suggest you connect the OP to the MPI interfaces of the CPU, or at least use a seperate Profibus network for the panels.

But if i change my redundancy link to MPI, then this configuration will work, right? on board redundancy via MPI.
And can i use a with PG socket from the redundant MPI link of one CPU and connect to the hmi?

Hello draacula;

Consider that the redundancy link is critical and must be reserved only for this purpose. You can select the MPI intergrated port of the CPUs for this purpose (using the XSEND_300 blocks, see chapter 5 of the SWR manual), but it must not be used for anything el;se, including the HMI connection.

For the HMI connection, you could check out the contents of this FAQ and connect them to Profibus-DP:

Even though the document is designed for H-Systems, the "Change Connection" script soluition works well with SWR.

I quickly went through the manual. Is it possible to do the switchover by script in a basic panel? My hmi is KTP1200 basic.

Basic panels, such as the KTP1200 Basic, do not support scripting. See the screenshot below, from the KTP1200 Basic Technical data.

You need at least a Comfort panel to support scripting.

However, the following Application note shows different ways to change connection for both Basic (through I/O Fields, for example) and Comfort panels (through scripting, for example), so you can decide how you choose to connect to the SWR project:
