Hai this is surendra...I have a doubt on Modbus communication.

My objective is i want to communicate the socomec energy meter with my PC using RS232 serial cable.

i.e i want to read the read holding register from socomec energy meter.Here i used modpoll terminal

For this i send the slave id,function code,address,register count and CRC from modpoll terminal but i didn't get any responses from slave.Even i am not getting whether the data is transmitting or not.

please help i am new with modbus communication.

My doubt is,is it possible with RS 232 to read the data from socomec energy meter?

Split from Modbus RTU Modbus Master.

Here i am communicating with only device for that RS232 connection is enough i think.If i will go for more connections then i will follow RS485 connection.Please suggest me if any thing i did wrong in this post.

First i haves tried with simple one connection with RS232 from my PC here i used the tool is modpoll but i didn't get any reposnse from slave.

Here i was follow the RTU frame mechanism like first i have to send

1)slave address 2)function code 3)register address 4)CRC .

please suggest me i am new with this modbus communication.
