Is TSAP hard to understand?

danflodins Posts: 19 Rating: (1)	Hi! Can somebody help me to understand TSAP? As there is help to find on internet I must make it harder then it really is! Please see attached files, I beleave it is self explaining. I want three PLC to comminicate with each other and all to PC-Access using TCP/IP. Helmut_13 Posts: 2930 Rating: (431)	Hi, the TSAP descripes the "position" of the communication you want to use. The TSAP contains the number of the chanel and the possition of the Ethernet/IT-CP in the S7-200 configuration. TSAP: 10.01 means: 10 = the first chanel (up to 8 can be 10 to 18) 01 = Position of the CP in the S7-200 configuration (01 = there is a modul beween the PLC and the CP used) I hope this helps. My conclusions:I’m trying to achieve something impossible as I want to utilize at least 9 channels. Three channels are taken for the com to PC-Access. Then I want three 224 CPU to exchange data which means another six channels, so I have to reduce with at least one channel. As my three PLC has the CP module in position 0 (neighbour to CPU) all options are as follows 10.00, 11.00, 12.00, 13.00, 14.00, 15.00, 16.00 and 17.00. But what are the rules for PC-Access then? As soon you click on “This server will connect with an Operator Panel (OP)” Local TSAP changes to 02.00 from 10.00 does that mean PC-Access uses some “special” channels? PC-Access works fine with one PLC if I use Local 02.00 and Remote 02.00. As I use same numbers in both we can not really see what’s what here! If we now see it from the PLC side PLC 1, Local 10.00 – PC-Access Remote 11.00 PLC 2, Local 12.00 – PC-Access Remote 13.00 PLC 3, Local 14.00 – PC-Access Remote 15.00 These addresses will give me three unique channels, but is this way it works? No I think some more help is needed here! Dan

I would reduce, in the first step the view onto one PLC, because the # of resources required are called for each PLC by itself. To say it a bit more precisely each PLC has 8 S7-Connections with the CP 243-1 by itself. (Not all of them together). We will see it now for each connection. I think in case of the PC Access a Server-Connection is the right choice. Here the PC may choose what data he wants to read / write of the PLC. As far as I know the PLC would not be able to write any data to the PC anyway... therefore... So we have one S7 Server-Connection for the PC, not three... how did you get to this point? Now we check the Connection to the other two PLC’s. Why do you need 3 Connections here? If I imagine what I would do this would be my result. I would choose one Connection for each PLC. In this connection you may configure the communication jobs to do, these can be in both directions... so no big issue to transfer to and from the PLC one after the other. So over all I would use 2 S7-Connections for the two PLC. In sum you would use here 3 Connections of 8 possible not 9. So what is the problem in the point of resources? Each PLC would use 3 Connections which is no big deal. The TSAP of thePCwould have to be used that way that you use a TSAP 10.00 for one, TSAP 11.00 for the second and TSAP 12.00 for the third PLC. (at least this iswhat I would use) TheTSAP of thePLC depends on the PLC, you may also use three times the TSAP 10.00, this would not matter because the PC knows byits local TSAP thatit has different Connections. danflodins Posts: 19 Rating: (1)	J_Bell You say you are confused! I'm confused but it's maybe because its simpler then i thought! If we thake this from the beginnig. I have 3 S7-224 and I want them to talk to PC-Access. I have tried several different configurations and the only one that have worked so far is to use TSAP 02.00/02.00. And set "This server will connect to an Operator Panel (OP) in the CP234-1 setup. This works fine with one of PLC. Enought with this! It is probably wery simple I just don't understand! Can you tell me how to set proper TSAP to make one PC-Access to communicate with three S7-224 with CP 243-1. If we manage that to work for a start we can talk how to make the PLC to PLC communication to work. Dan

If you want a Sample with PPI, check the Micro Automation: Simplest possible access to PLC data via standard PC applications (MAS 11) I hope this will show you the way. I used the evaluation version, after install of proper software with SP7 I had no problem set up the communication from three 224 to PC-Access and communication between the 224. Another lession learnt was always check theCP243 in "PLC, Information" as sometimes after download of new config or program there are no IP addresses but zeros, then you needto "coldboot" your PLC and latest config is read from the PLC. Unnati Posts: 10 Rating: (0)	Hi everyone, I still face an issue here.. I am not able to understand why only 02:00 works properly as TSAP number?? m configuring anything else it doesnt work. And also i Want to know when you say MAximum 8 Communication can happen (One at a time) What exactly do we mean.. 8 CP 234 Modules or 8 HMI devices or Both?? Sorry my doubt is too basic but please help to learn. I also want to Know that if i Configure only 1 Connection while i use Ethernet wizard, to how many HMI panels can i communicate? and how??

The TSAP it selve contains two location: TSAP: 10:00 This means: 10: Ethernet or IT module is connected next to the PLC 00: use the first of the 8 communication channels. This information is important for: + PLC to PLC communication + OPC data transfer via Ethernet ... I also want to Know that if i Configure only 1 Connection while i use Ethernet wizard, to how many HMI panels can i communicate? and how?? CP 243-1 supports up to 8 communication channels to clients or servers on one or more remote communication partners... Only one CP 243-1 should be connected per S7-200 CPU. It cannot be guaranteed that the S7-200 system will operate properly if additional CP 243-1 are connected. What should you watch out for when setting up a connection between S7-200 and SIMATIC Panels or WinCC flexible PC Runtime and what are the options? You should specify the type of HMI panel, taken in account WinCC flexible Runtime or the Windows-based operator panel can only establish a connection with a CP243-1 if the module is configured to "Position 0". The TSAP for the remote station must be set to 02.00. and Which HMI components can you connect with S7-200 CPU and what should you watch out for when doing so? Best regards, Hristo Mihalev
