It is a requirement to use failsafe modules to be able to discharge a program with failsafe blocks?

jm1983 Bronze Member Joined: 12/14/2010 Last visit: 12/29/2022 Posts: 160 Rating: (5)	hello to all I made a project in the PCS7 v6.1 SP4 (with the PLCSIM v5.3 SP1+HF1) and a Safety matrix project included in this, in the hardware configuration I have a CPU 417-4 without failsafe modules, the problem is the following one, when I discharge the program (after having discharged the hardware configuration) the following error appears: "the download of F-blocks is not allowed with online CPU connection", but the CPU(PLCSIM) is in STOP mode. I have the following doubts: It is a requirement to use failsafe modules to be able to discharge a program with failsafe blocks? it could be that the type of CPU that I am using doesn't support failsafe blocks? I would thank something of help

Ayman Elotaify Platinum Expert Joined: 5/28/2008 Last visit: 3/28/2023 Posts: 4391 Rating: (824)	Hello, If I understand your question right, you are tring to use Fail safe blocks in CFC while you do not have fail safe modules in your system. You should have fail safe modules to use the fail safe blocks. each channel of fail safe module have its own fail safe channel driver and also there are fail safe blocks to program it. You can not use fail safe blocks with standard modules. Hope this helps.

Well if there is no failsafe module and you have used Failsafe Blocks in your program. This may lead the PLC to go Stop. because the configuration isn't sufficient. The Diagnostic Blocks of Failsafe Block querries the healthiness of the Modules

This CPU does NOT support failsafe blocks - only a 417-4H does, if the setting 'CPU contains safety program' in the Protection-properties of the CPU is activated. A download of F-blocks to a non-F-CPU is not supported. Failsafe-modules are not necessarily required. Best regards, yy1

jm1983 Bronze Member Joined: 12/14/2010 Last visit: 12/29/2022 Posts: 160 Rating: (5)	hello yy1 I will explain what I want to make better, I have programmed a matrix logic and I want to prove it with the PLCSIM, but as I have understood for the S-400s there are not failsafe modules but rather this is achieved with the decentralized peripheries( for example an ET-200M ), so I created my matrix with external inputs for to connect values of mensuration of standard modules and convert the types of data with the respective blocks (REAL to F-REAL), I have proven with a CPU 417-4 H but I obtain the same result. thanks for the help

For F-CPUs or H-CPUs in the default setting, no safety program can be downloaded to the CPU. You can download safety blocks to the CPU only after assigning a password and selecting the " CPU contains safety program option ". - Go to the Properties of the CPU in the HW Config and enter the password in the tab Protection -> Level of Protection -> select 1:Access protection for F-CPU or keyswitch setting -> select Removable with password -> Enter your password -> select CPU contains safety program - when the program is downloading to the PLCSIM a passsword is requested, to enter "plcsim", instead of the password configured in the HW Config.

Dear jm1983, from PLCSIM V5.4 on you need the configured CPU-password - habe a look at this link Best regards, yy1

Hello, Thank you very much. And I want to add a small thing, do not forget to adjust the dip switches address in the rear of each fail safe module to match the binary code of HW configuration. And After powering the system up, be sure that the green led (Safe) is lit. Have a nice day.
