- The desired application :

Configure IFM IO Link master through the Siemens S7-PCT in the same way as Siemens IO Link Master is configured. Create new color+blinking preset profiles for the Smartlight and toggle the profiles based on digital inputs to the S7-1200.

- The Problems (Bugs) :

When right clicking on the IFM AL11100 IO Link master port, the "Start Device Tool" is greyed out which would open S7-PCT. When right clicking the Siemens brand IO link master block, "Start Device Tool" is active and it can be configure with S7-PCT.

Does the IFM AL1100 IO Link Master support configuration with the STEP7-TIA portal?

The IFM brand IO-Link Master AL1100 should have an associated GSD file, not IODD file, correct? I was under the impression that only IO link devices (connected to the master) have IODD files. 

There is an IODD file for the Balluff smartlight device which I've already downloaded. I should be able to launch the S7-PCT tool by right clicking on the AL1100 master and "Starting Device Tool". At that point, I should be able to import IODD files in S7-PCT and begin configuring the color schemes of the smartlight.

I've already loaded the GSD file for the AL1100 and added one to the network via the hardware catalog.

To configure the IFM AL1100 and the IO-LINK device attached you need the paid version of Line Recorder from IFM

I made the configuration for the IFM AL1102 last month. Next month we try in production.

PS: you can make the configuration inside TIA portal but it must be the runtime of the CPU from siemens who configure the device IO-LINK via FC FB (I did not try yet). it is looking a little difficult and complicated for the first time.
