vlrdvision Posts: 4 Rating: (0)	Dear, One of your customer has a CPU 317 PN/DP and send data with the Profinet protocol. I noticed there is a C# library S7NetPlus to communicate with the S7-300. But it's using the S7 protocol. Does someone know if there is a library to communicate with a S7-300 with the profinet protocol ? If there isn't one, I can't find document that explains how the Ethernet frame are made (like a rfc) to build my own implementation. Thanks for your help, Vincent LE GARREC

vlrdvision Posts: 4 Rating: (0)	I found the product "CP 1616" aka "6GK1161-6AA02". Does someone know if it's compatible with the Profinet IO of the S7-300 ? The package looks big (4 Ethernet port). Is there a smaller / cheaper card ? Thanks,

With wich other device does the CPU need to communicate? Because you choose the CP1616, I can only guess you mean a communication to a PC-Station. Delivery release CP 1616 regards,

ChristophD Grandmaster-Expert Joined: 5/12/2006 Last visit: 3/27/2025 Posts: 22579 Rating: (3058)	Hello, what exactly means "end data with the Profinet protocol."? a Profinet IO protocol is used between a controller and a device, the device can configured with the HW Catalog objects or with GSDML files. a open PROFINET IO communication is not possible. Can it be that the customer only use the PN Interface but send normal TCP Data? If is really PROFINET IO then check which device is projected for the communication, because if you have not the same device like in the HW Config of the CPU 300 then you can not get this Data. vlrdvision Posts: 4 Rating: (0)	Thanks for your answers, The S7-317 will be configured with the GSDML file. On the other side, we will have a embedded computer that reads images from camera (3fps) and needs (for each photo) the data from the S7-317 in all registers defined on the GSDML file. Please find enclosed an example of data that will need to be send from S7-317 to the PC. I never worked with Profinet. At first, I thought using the S7 protocol that looks easier to use with the S7NetPlus library but customer says it not possible. We will go to the customer to do the development but at first I would like to know if it's possible to get the data and if the CP1616 PCI card (with its SDK) is the good material. CP1616 needs to be projected as PN-Controller and the CPU317 as I-device. you need to define transfer areas on the S7-317-side. These transfer-areas are cyclic updated on the CP1616. I guess the description of I-device in the Profinet-manual would be agreat help for you: SIMATIC PROFINET System Description have a look at Chapter 4.8 hope this helps, regards,

If yes is i-Device then you can use the CP1616 + SDK to write you own Application to get this data. Regards Christoph

I don't know what the configuration of the CPU 317 but I will remember your advice. Thanks a lot.

It is called PROFINET Driver for Controller and runs on Windows and Linux. You can use this software on the PC and configure the CPU300 as iDevice.
