Linear encoder and CP525?

Liftaren Posts: 21 Rating: (2)	As earlier mentioned, I am about to convert an old S5 to a new S7-300. I have learned now that in the S5 there are CP525 modules to control/read linear encoders. Searching the Net, I have found a migration table that says that CP525 should be replaced by CP341. Is it correct to assume that the encoders have a serial interface? And how, if so, can I find it in the S5 program code? All I can see there are "initialization of positioning"

A serial encoder would work not fast but if it is now ok then you have to search which protocol is used and if the TTY or V.24 port (wiring) is used, if you know what is used then we can help you to choose a card in S7.
