After you replace the linear scale you must verify the software limit and eventualy change it (for absolute or coded distance scale) and the Fixed position points (if they are used). Good luck Nit

Regards Sonata ------------------------------- Hi, Sonata, normally your axis is working with measuring sys.2 as your have linear scale. meas. sys1 is motor encoder. it is no need to adjust the difference of 2 sys. make sure to check in " Diagnosis-->services display-->service axis: measuring sys used=2 HTH

makesh Posts: 13 Rating: (0)	The difference between the two measuring system may be due to the mechanical backlash in the lead screw. Motor encoder just measure the position by calculacting the motor rpm. Sometimes if it is a belt driven mechanisam even if the belt is cut it will display the movement based on the motor rotation. Motor encoder cannot check whether the axis has moved physically. Whereas the linear encoder is directly mounted on the axis, it gives a more accurate position than the motor encoder. However, the difference between the two systems cannot be 40mm it can be 40 um. Please check it. If it is 40mm then something is wrong with ur motor-leadscrew drive.

So I think that you don't be worry for this difference. If you don't have set this parameter, the system would monitor the difference and generate an alarm if the difference is greater that a limit parameter (which I think it is not possible to be so big). alcor Posts: 13 Rating: (1)	You may find the procedure for adjusting an absolute encoder in the manual "Start-Up Guide 840D/810D/611D" ( Start-Up Guide 840D/810D/611D). Here, in the chapter 6.9.6 you may find what you are looking for. Short: Move axis to a well known position. Set in MD 34100 REFP_SET_POSITION the value for the "well known position". Set MD 34210 ENC_REFP_STATE to 1 (0 = no set / 1 = I want to set / 2 = all done - is set). Simulate referencing (go to REF mode, select axis, press + key on MCP). MD 34210 should change to 2. TEST the axis by moving to another known position. If the machine crash something in the way, you did something wrong. If not, you are lucky. If your machine have also Safety Integrated: Disable "User acknowledgement" before and ask someone else to set it after. As described in the machine manufacturer (OEM) manual.
