oakland Posts: 1 Rating: (0)	my project consist in monitoring of approx. 80 levels, grouped in 10, for visualisation I use WinCC, and I don't want to use the solutionofET200s, controller and Profibus DP as communication bus, but to link the level transducers directly to the computer; the reading of levels is made 1 per day so don't need speed for comm. I'm content even with an old protocol, from my point of view the simplest solutions are: 1. to install WinCCand anapplicationacting asmaster on a network (it's ok RS485 or other comm. protocol supported by transducers) and to communicate between this two; 2. get a driver for my predetermined network (Profibus DP)directly from WinCC, but in this case I need a master in the network (maybe a dedicated.dll file?) What do you think is the best solution?

dchartier Grandmaster-Expert Joined: 9/27/2006 Last visit: 12/4/2024 Posts: 12299 Rating: (2691)	Hello oakland; We had a discussion about a very similar problem not so long ago, on this forum, about Profibus-DP; maybe this could help you: /tf/WW/en/Posts/19657 However, Profibus-DP is a cyclic protocol, i am not sure you can simply turn it on and off if you want to collect data at only certain times. Normally it is designed to poll the slaves constantly as soon as the master is active. Hope this helsp, Daniel Chartier
