Linking my S7-300DP to my ethernet network

Daniel Cyborg Experienced Member Joined: 3/24/2010 Last visit: 3/6/2025 Posts: 123 Rating: (1)	Hello Experts, I just want to know how can I hook up my existing profibus PLCs (S7-300 315-2DP) to my WinCC Scada. Other PLCs with Ethernet port was already hooked-up to my SCADA. Does siemens have a some sort of a gateway that will connect those S7-300DP PLCs to my WinCC? Putting 1 CP-343 to each one is an option but I don't want to spend much on those modules. Another option is having a Profibus card on my desktop but what want is to hook it up to my existing Ethernet Network because the PC is in a remote location. Very far. I hope you can give your soonest response, Thanks Daniel

olloy Silver Member Joined: 8/27/2010 Last visit: 4/13/2024 Posts: 417 Rating: (37)	Hi! There is only three ways: 1. Use existing CPUs and add CP with Ethernet to each rail. 2. Use Profibus card in your WinCC. If cable lengh is long - go via OLM. 3. Change your CPUs to 315-2 PN/DP ))

The driver for SIMATIC MicroWin ,STEP7, WinCC, ProTool and of course S7 for Windows® is supplied on CD with your IBH Link S7++ HS. Also you can use the IBH OPC Server to connect your visualisation with the PLC via IBH Link S7++ HS. The IBHNet driver enables you to gain direct variable access via standard programming languages like Visual Basic or Delphi. The configuration of the adapter is very easy and normally done in a few minutes. The IBH Link S7++ HS automatically detects, whether it’s connected to a 10 or 100Mbit/s network. However, the cost is very similar to the 343-1. It was only a suggestion and it may help when you : Have limitation in using new modules over a rack due to max current violation in backplane. it is only a peice of hardware and includes all softwares that are necessary for PG operation / using via WINCC or applications via other visual programming applications. It is an option to check the constraints and select the best solution

Actually, I have a problem on the backplane I can't add CP343 because the modules are already maxed out. So the resort will be changing the CPU with PN port but it may be very costly. OR using that converter. Hmm. One more question, if my thinking is right I have to put 1 converter on every CPU right? Do I have an option like a gateway which I can connect all mpi in a loop? So I have to access just 1 device (Ethernet) to connect to all CPUs. Thank you for the time. Hoping for your responses. Regards,
