Loading Hardware Configuration

mark102 Posts: 13 Rating: (0)	Hello, I have added a sb cart to an existing s7-1200 plc (CPU 1212C). I added the sb cart in the siemens tia portal programing, but when i download the hardware configuratieon to the PLC theplc does not seem to respond to the new cart. When i switch on thepower al the leds flach oncequicklyand do not resond to any signal =>Is this an hardware or an software problem? =>I think the actual hardware configuration inthe plchas not changed since i added the cart. Would it help to do a full reset on the plc andthan upload al my latest work? => How do i do a full reset on an S7-1200 PLC? Thanks Marc

Thanks Marc If you go online with the PLC and look at the project tree, check the local modules for Green check box. If the green checkbox is there for all the local modules for your PLC, then the hardware configuration has been accepted. It may simply be incorrect wiring of the SB. Check the s7-1200 system manual or easy book or any documentation mini-CD that came with the SB for wiring references.

mark102 Posts: 13 Rating: (0)	Oké when i go to the project tree there is not an green boks behind this sd cart, there is an explination mark as you can see in the attachemend. When i put the cursor on the explantion mark the system says: "Errors, Error in lower level component" What does this mean? That my wiring is wrong? I put an 24 volt source on it (+ on L+ and the ground on M)? I is an 24VDC cart so this could not be wrong or is it?

0_Einstein Diamond Expert Joined: 7/7/2010 Last visit: 1/17/2025 Posts: 15541 Rating: (2465)	mark102 here is the attachement In the attachment, it clearly shows you are online with the PLC in the spot where you state you cannot make any adjustments to the hardware configuration. 100% correct. You must be offline to change hardware settings. Then compile and download the hardware changes. This last step is crucial. When you are online with the PLC, use the online/diagnostics section and inspect that module to see what error data it is providing. It might be something out of range or in some way configured to fault as currently wired.

Can you also capture a screenshot of the online diagnostics buffer showing the error for the signal board? That would be so helpful in figuring out what the plc is already telling you. As for byte 4 being the start of the SB addressing, it means the plc is allocating byte 4 for that board. So, address 4.0 .. 4.3 is within that byte and that is how you think of it. You may want to add some "unavailable" bits to 4.4 .. 4.7 so you know they do not exist (as well as anyone maintaining your PLC logic in the future. It will save them time.

I have a printscreen of 1 error but when i go back now i dont get whone anymore Your hardware does not see the signal board in the physical world, but expects it which is why it shows the "?" for the status instead of green or red. It would show in red if it could see the board and there was a problem with the I/O. You did not install the signal board while the plc was powered up, right? Assuming you installed the signal board while the plc was off, did you also wire up the L+ and M to power up the signal board?
