William_B Posts: 5225 Rating: (1192)	Hi-ya all, I am in search for a - "Beginners guide to using SCL on an S7-1200" - Cheat sheet for SCL Personally I am familiar with C++ and Pascal, but starting at ground level is never a bad thing. I know that the commands are listed in the system manual, but I am hoping for something more "zoomed" in to the SCL subject. Thanks. w

Thanks. w Hello, Also yo have option of checking different manuals for what sections discussed the topics related to SCL: 1-Overview of the settings for SCL 2-SCL 3-Overview of SCL program control statements 4-Conversion instructions for SCL SCL instructions use standard programming operators, such as for assignment (:=), mathematical functions (+ for addition, - for subtraction, * for multiplication, and / for division). SCL also uses standard PASCAL program control operations, such as IF-THEN-ELSE, CASE, REPEAT-UNTIL, GOTO and RETURN. You can use any PASCAL reference for syntactical elements of the SCL programming language. Many of the other instructions for SCL, such as timers and counters, match the LAD and FBD instructions. For more information about specific instructions, refer to the specific instructions in the chapters for Basic instructions and Extended instructions. Best regards Hamid Hosseini

It can however quickly give information overload if you try narrow it down to something very specific. Do you not worry.. this goes to my bookmarks for future use. Hamid Hosseini: Wow! Thanks for taking the time and identifyig the most important subject matter in the system manual. I am ashamed to be shown this when I have the S7-1200 system manual sitting on my PC already. Link [2] is most helpful to start from. These will help me, but my "students" will find it more difficult to use. It is not quite the "dummies guide" and "cheat sheet" I was hoping for. My search continues for the learners I get to teach from time-to-time. Again my thanks for the provided detailed links. Greetings,

Greetings, Dear William B. , Thank you for impressive feedback.There is no thing to be ashamed, we are here to provide different ways and share our different ideas. My suggestion is "While you are focusing on this issue and checking all related manual, why don't you create one for community?" There is some summarized "instruction lists" for SCL in Hans Berger's book (for S7300/400).That can be an inspiring starting point.If you want, I can give you some feedback. Regards Hello Little Robot, Yes and of course all these pages are existing but due to the migration from old SIEMENS Industry support website to the new SIOS , a revolution happened and all our nice works in past are piles of junk words.Accept My apology ,on behalf of the website owner, and you can find the topics again with a little search in the new SIOS with keywords I presented in 2013.Check the attached file.
