Dear biffdum, Let me answer your question partially, You have mentioned that there is no edge detection on your Logo. I make edge detection function to suit your Logo model(But am not sure) . I attached here the ladder diagram and note that M4 outputs a pulse when there is a positive edge and M9 outputs a pulse when there is a negative edge. I had not read your statement. You use 1 input for the feedback of the final position of the cylinders, both ways. Look at the example program, thats better Very simple, works from version 0BA0 The program is not perfect. Because you but 1 input uses a startup never know where the cylinder is!
