Hello, I also need to change something (or completly replace) in WF470 (with WS420) but I have no idea howto. Does anybody have the CD with the manuals for WS/WF series ? I was googling a lot lot lot but no result Exactly what i need is manual for: 6FM1 420 1AA00 - WS 420/20 - OP panel 6FM1 470 4AA20 - WF 470 - S5 card Thank you very much J.M. So I changed the WS panel to TP170, its working, no problem , it not easy (takes lot of time) but its cheap and now I can even sell the WS/WF :-) . Thanks again for the links to the manuals !!! J.

jirimatus Posts: 53 Rating: (2)	OK, here is the crazy procedure :-) First the machine data: CPU 115 943, Positioning card 240 2 drives VISU FM470 card + WS400/20 screen+keyboard 120x DI 90x DO several AI/AO The WF card and WS screen replaced by TP170A 1) Read carefully all the manuals mentioned in previous posts. !!! All you need you find there. I am new to S5 so I often looked at the manual for S5 and 115 CPUs. ..... naturally I had no original SW neither for WF(video) card nor for PLC => 2) I had to find out which "places" of PLC memory (DB/F/I/O/T/C) represent the variables on the screens. Finally I found all of them (95). First I tried input fields. I changed the value via panel and then watched the PLC memory what has changed. After this step I got orientated in the SW especially where (in which DB) are the variables related to each tasks. Then I made output fields... much more difficult... but for example: On the screen, there was number "125", so I was looking for 125 inside the DB related to this job and if I found it, I verified it by changing the value by PG and then watching the screen if the value also changed ... etc etc. 3) The WF card is partially driven by PLC. The FBs (for the CPU 943) are: FB201, FB 251, FB220. BUT, the FB number differs for various PLC. Also the FB number could be changed (my case) !!! So you have to look for FB named: TAST-115, S5-WF470, BILDLIST, they should be called unconditionally in OB1. Then you must carefully watch the input/output parameters for this FBs and you will find out which aux. flags and DB they use, and what is the input byte for communication with WS screen. Understand: the WS panel is connected to PLC by 8 wires to the DI card = one input byte. and the combination of these 8 bits tells the PLC which key was pushed and then the PLC tells to WF card what should be displayed. These FBs also use some flag (merker) areas (see manual) so check this out too. 4) In on of WF aux. DB you can find, which "user" FB is called if the particular screen is chosen on WS panel. (This is feature of this card = if you swith to some screen on the panel, the FB220 will call the FB which you want/need for this screen.) Then you have to go through all this FBs to understand what are they doing, because once you disconnect the WF card (and disable the FBs for this card) , these FBs are no more called !!! So you have to change the S5 code to call them when you need. Or change the code that way, that you dont need them any more. It depends on you = what is more simple. 5) In other aux. DB you will find ... ... hey wake up! ... Almost finished ! so you will find the "code" of single keys at the WS400 keyboard = the codes of input byte connected to WS panel. So you can now "recognize" the keypresses (I think, this table is also in some manual). Now you have to go through all S5 code and find, where is this input byte used, understand the code around and then adapt the S5 code for your needs. But dont worry, this IB should be used only in the FBs related to the screens (called by FB 220). Maybe only the reset and F buttons could be "global". 6) Then you have to write the code for TP170A panel in WinCC or ProTool, connect to PLC and test. The TP170A has one RS232 channel for PLC, so for connection TP<->PLC I used exactly the same cable which I am using for connecting my PG to PLC S5 (it's cheap). The advantage is, that you can run both panels (WS & TP) together paralelly. 7) If everything goes well, you can disconnect the WF card and disable calling the FBs related to it (the FB251 is accessing the WF card directly => CPU goes to stop). 8) Sell the WS/WF parts Uf ... Maybe I forgot something, but you can find all the details in the manuals Hope this helps. Jiri.
