MAS 21: Problem with teleservice - MD720-3

Gujzer Posts: 20 Rating: (0)	Hello! Straight on the problem: I can not connect to MD720-3 with analog modem in my laptop. Sim card in MD720-3 has both numbers (voice/normal and for data transfer/CSD). If I try to connect with hyperterminal program I get busy in OPC mode and No answer in AT mode. It doesn't matter wich number do I use. The result is the same in Micro/win if I try to call that number. When the modem is in OPC mode and when I call it, the LED's S and C turn off and only the Q is blinking, and after a few seconds they return to normal and I can see MD720-3 in SINAUT MICRO SC, so it returns back to normal OPC function. But if I put the SIM card in a phone I can see myself calling, but only when I call the voice number. I've triple checked the CLIP number and also tried with *, the result is the same. Could please someone point me to possible problem, because I can't think of anything. Thank you.

You mean the SIM of your Remote Station? Ok, that´s fine but it doesn´t tell you if the data-call signification is coming thrue your GSM provider from your telephone-line-provider. Please check this with following FAQ: http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/de/29975541 After that you are absolutely sure, that A) the number is transfered clearly (ok that what you already tested) and B) the data-call flag is still set. After that please inform me, what´s your result. I can offer you to try dialing in from a station here in Germany. Please give me a feedback. regards Lif

I tried Your link and this was the result in HyperTerminal: at OK ati3 SIE3171 SINAUT MD720-3 V1.7.7 17.09.2007 OK at+csns=? OK at+csns? OK at+csns=4 OK +CRING: REL ASYNC +CRING: REL ASYNC +CRING: REL ASYNC +CRING: REL ASYNC +CRING: REL ASYNC CONNECT 1) as You can see CSNS response is not as in the FAQ 2) call was made from another HyperTerminal on the same PC over the analog line, as You can see they connected - small success after five days of trials. Byt the way, the call was made with ATD command which as far as I understand is for CSD calls. But when I connected the modem back to PLC with PPI cable, the modem went in OPC mode and if I called it the S and C led turned off, I recived BUSY response, and the modem went back to OPC mode (which works with no problem, MICRO SC.....) And here is my strange problem: If I change the mode from OPC to terminal with my PLC the C LED does not blink as it should, I have to change the mode via SET button (power off/power on), then the C LED blinks. Also I can not connect with HyperTerminal to MD720-3 when the mode is set by PLC only when I change it manualy.

Disconnected Reason: No Answer and in HyperTerminal: +CRING: REL ASYNC +CRING: REL ASYNC +CRING: REL ASYNC +CRING: REL ASYNC +CRING: REL ASYNC NO CARRIER even if answered with ATA command there was NO CARRIER in HyperTerminal: +CRING: REL ASYNC +CRING: REL ASYNC ata NO CARRIER

Means only a subnumber of AT-commands are path thrue and the other all all notified with "OK" not to fall into timeout but there´s no message behind. Ok.... now i want you to use an other GSM-modem like TC35/45/65 to test this again. Byt the way, the call was made with ATD command which as far as I understand is for CSD calls. From my understanding the ";"-character at the end of the ATD <number> signals a VOICE call. no ";" --> DATA call. And here is my strange problem: If I change the mode from OPC to terminal with my PLC the C LED does not blink as it should, I have to change the mode via SET button (power off/power on), then the C LED blinks. Also I can not connect with HyperTerminal to MD720-3 when the mode is set by PLC only when I change it manualy. Thats in fact little bit strange. I would call it more like an AT-compatible mode, but not the real "Terminal-Mode" which you have when the modem comes from factory. But i will verify that.

You have surprised me with the question: what is REL ASYNC? since it is written in the link You gave me: [link]http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/llisapi.dll?func=cslib.csinfo&lang=en&siteid=cseus&aktprim=0&extranet=standard&viewreg=WW&objid=10805397&treeLang=en[/link] I suspect it means that there is CSD call ringing, because if I called the voice number I got +CRING: VOICE. I have no other modem on my disposal only the MD720-3 and the analog modem in my PC. I know this problem is starting to be a bit annoying, but if You could somehow help me I will be very grateful.

If this is so, than how can you change to real Terminal-Mode? Perhaps with sendig AT commads to MD720-3 with PLC is it possible? There is no need to be in the "real" Terminal-Mode. Thats the joke. It´s everything ok so far... The AT-compatible mode is enough for the AT-commands which are send from PLC to modem. (+++ ATA ATH....) 3. do you have the pin activated at your "Remote Station" and at your "Teleservice Station"? 4. I personally think, that the Remote Station reacts at following: The RING comes into the modem. The processor checks immediately if the number is valid. Until now the GPRS connection is already stopped (this is what you see at the LED´s), but the mode is not yet in the "Terminal Mode (or however it is called)". I think this is exactly what happen in your case. Because otherwise, when the CLIP-number is valid the RING signal will path thrue the S7-200 and the S7-200 WDC_CONTROL starts ACT_AT. my question: Do you see (beneth of the behavior of the LED´s) the WDC_CONTROL status switching from GPRS_mode to AT_mode (ACT_AT) 5. Please give me your phonenumber of the Remote Station, and i will try to connect to it. Furthermore please give me a copy of your CLIP-entry.

Gujzer Posts: 20 Rating: (0)	Hi! About the PIN I don't use PIN number therefore I tried with "" and "0000" for a PIN number, there was no difference. When I call the modem, and the LEDs go OFF (C and S) the WDC_CONTROL block doesn't change, his output is: int_mode_control 1 Busy_control 0 Done_control 1 Aborted_control 0 error_control 0 And there are no LEDs (Tx and Rx) blinking on the PPI cable at the time of calling. So in my opinion the S7-200 is not informed by the MD720-3 that there was a CSD call. The modem just doesn't want to answer it. He does something like: change the mode from OPC to "terminal", reject the calling number and change back to OPC. But if the S7-200 is not connected and the mode in manualy changed by the SET button, the modem answers the call, as I wrote in a earlier post. The number of the SIM in modem is +386 (0) 51 669 229 (CSD number, voice number is different). and this is my CLIP in data block: CLIP:VB400 "00386*;;;;;" Should I enter Your number in CLIP in case of Your call? I will try to change the mode over the HyperTerminal from OPC to terminal with AT commands and see to what mode will he change if I will be successful.
