Maximum Number Simultaneously active ALARM_S blocks

anuchisa Advanced Member Joined: 10/15/2010 Last visit: 2/7/2023 Posts: 36 Rating: (0)	Dear sirs, In my new project with CPU 319F-3 PN/DP and WinCC 7.0, I planned to use "Alarm-S" in the PLC program for configuring/generating alarm which will be displayed on WinCC 7.0. This is the first time that I use this method (normally I used simple "Bit alarm procedure"). However, on the link below, it indicates that max. no. of simultaneously active ALARM_S blocks for CPU 319F-3 PN/DP is only "300" blocks. 1) Does it mean ... I can have only 300 alarms for this CPU? On my new project, I have about 100 analog instrument (each contains 4 level of alarm ... HH, H, L, LL). So, at least, I have to configure 400 alarms and maybe 50 more from digital input signal. So, I have to create 450 alarm message for this project. 2) Is it possible to increase the number of alarm messages to be more than 300? I saw the note on the link below that "In CPU319-3 PN/DP (with Firmware 2.7.2 or higher) you can have a maximum of 300 alarms consisting of ALARM_D or ALARM_S blocks. However, more alarms can be programmed/configured." fritz Diamond Expert Joined: 10/7/2005 Last visit: 3/31/2023 Posts: 2962 Rating: (1023)	Hello anuchisa you can configure as many ALARM_S related Alarms as you wish. The "quantity framework" limit of 300 for a CPU319-3 PN/DP is the limit for the maximum number of simultaneously active ALARM_S blocks. What this means is that should you have more than300Alarmsbecoming active at thesame moment in time, you will either miss some of them or the reporting of them will be delayed. I've never tested this limit and can't say for sure which applies, the help on ALARM_Ssimly states that: If the number of SFC 17 or SFC 18 calls is higher than the maximum amount of CPU system resources, this may result in a lack of resources (instance overflow). This is indicated both by the information in RET_VAL as well as by indications at the logged on display devices. I hope this helps
