joaofaro Posts: 14 Rating: (0)	Hello all! I want to read an input every second and afer 60 samples (1 minute) calculate the median of samples. How can I calculate the median? Now I am calculating average but in this case, results would be better using median instead of average. Another question: I think my TON it is not working well. Am I doing anything wrong? (See attachment). The tag "new_cycle" is set to 1 when I want to get a new sample. Attachment screen.jpg (285 Downloads)

I'm not sure what you intend with media, but I think that is the (heighst value+lowerst) value/2. In this context you can use maximal and minimal instruction. In the first read you set max=min=first value. in the next cicles calculate max (actual value, last max value) = new max value. Tip, you cam place your logic in a time ob (set at each second). So you will not need timers.

In case of odd amount of values the middle one is your Median. In case off even amount of values there are two values in the middle, add them and devide by 2. Marcjan

beserb Posts: 52 Rating: (4)	As far as I know there is no library function for finding median. But you'd better check the online help to be sure. When the question is related with data manipulation or data processing I would recommend to use SCL instead of LAD. Considering you have a raw data in an array, first you have to find the lowest or the highest member using a FOR loop and copy it as the first member of your new array. Do the same thing to find next lowest/highest member until the array is filled up. Just be careful with the duplicate members ;) LAD would take too much effort for such operation where you can do it writing 20-25 lines of code in SCL. Hope this helps.
