Hello samkcr; The CPU 313C-2DP has enough I/O memory space for your application. Amongst other things, it can handle up to 512 analog channels, of which 248 must be in the central racks; the others can be accessed through Profibus. Just take care that you are limited to 32 kB of work memory in the selected CPU, so you will be limited in the amount of data processing you can do. In case of doubt, start yopur offline programming, and use the memory information of the Blocks folder to estimate how much memory your program will need when finished. See the attached document, extracted from the "CPU 31x and 31xC, Technical specifications" manual. http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/12996906 If you want to reassure yourself (or your client) you can use 2 different tools: - the HWConfig editor of Step 7 will warn you when exceeding the limits ofthe selected CPU; - the Simatic configurator available on the A&D Mall (either mall.automation.siemens.com or https://eb.automation.siemens.com/goos/WelcomePage.aspx?regionUrl=/UK&language=en) will construct a bill of materials for your project and validate your configuration. Hope this helps, Daniel Chartier |
