Messages using TCP/IP - Between a PC and a CPU

Marques Posts: 126 Rating: (2)	I need to establish communication between a PC and a CPU315. Using the TCP/IP protocool i need to exchange messages (Send and Receive). The messges have adefined format in both ways. I think that this is possible using the CP343, am i right? But is there any other way to do this? How? Regards, Marques

You have to make sure that you assign IP address and port numbers in the programon the PC which will communicate. Let me know in case you need more info.

Calm_down Posts: 324 Rating: (30)	Hello Marques, well besides the CP 343-1 Lean or Advanced you could also use one of the new PROFINET CPUs. The CPUs and the CPs can handle the TCP/IP Protocoll. The CPU is restricted in that way that it can transmit one PDU Unit with maximum size. The CP can handle up to 8 kB. Stay calm.

See the manual Communication with SIMATIC for more information about the communication, for instance with TCP. Please see the manual Commissioning PC Stations - Manual and Quick Start to read something about this communication with SIMATIC NET and OPC. You may find also in the next manual a lot of information Industrial Communication with PG/PC Volume 2 - Interfaces Programming Manualabout communication. When you have a PN-CPU then you can use the TCP/IP wizard which is describedin the Application & Tools part: Generating the Connection Data for the open TCP/IP Communication using the Open Communication Wizard

But i must tell you that i don´t have acess to the PC, i just now that the PC is waiting for a message and that he will reply another message. So i can´t use Open Commucation Wizard on the PC side. My question is: Can i comunicate with PC using open TCP/IP communication via the PROFINET interface of the S7-CPUs,to send and receive message in open TCP/IP without configuring the Open Commucation Wizard on the PC side? My idea isto communicate viaMP277 -> PC and not CPU->PC. Is this possible? How can i do this? In this way the trade of messages is made by the panel, and i don´t need to buy CP343, or to programme via Profinet CPU. I now that i must programme scripts to run the send/recv of messges, but this solution was good for me. Regards, Marques

The maximum I know if is that if you have one of the bigger MPs that they provide you with an OPC Server that can be accessed via DCOM form a Windows PC. But this is all I could think of. I would get a 343-Lean for the PLC , it makes it easier to work with also has a two port switch Use OP/MP with an ethernet card , do t-the communication to the PLC via ethernet. Use the PLC to communicate to the PC ( two way communications) Use the OP/MP to log info to the PC ( ie alarms , tags etc) Using netpro you can configure a connection to a PC ( you have to know the port and IP adress) Its usefull to know the lenght of datatransfer ( keep it short rather 200 bytes than 2k) hope it helps Eric
