Migration from WinCC flexible 2008 to Step7 Basic V12 (TIA portal)

Tim Jackson Posts: 8 Rating: (0)	I have several HMI projects built on WinCC Flexible 2008 SP3. This program is installed, licensed and working on my PC under Windows XP Professional 2002 SP3. I have just installed Step7 Basic V12 on the same PC with a view to converting an OP177B project to use a KTP600. The main system is installed, licensed and working. However installation of the WinCC migration module of Step7 fails. The log file (attached) indicates that it was unable to find the SQL server. However Microsoft SQL Server 2005 is present and WinCC continues to work normally. I have removed WinCC, Microsoft SQL server and Microsoft SQL Native Client, rebooted and rerun the installation of WinCC Flexible 2008 SP3. WinCC still works and the Step7 installer still fails in the same way. Am I doing something wrong or missing something? Is there any way of working around this problem short of retyping the project from scratch? Attachment logfiles.zip (430 Downloads)

Tim Jackson Posts: 8 Rating: (0)	You misunderstand, the SQL installation does not fail. It is installed as part of the installation of WinCC 2008, and that all works as it should. It is only the installation of the migrator component of Step7-V12 that fails. The log for that (attached to the O/P above) appears to complain that there is no "default value" for the registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL Server\90 The key (which is the identifier for SQL2005) is present, has its usual complement of named values, and as far as I know never had a default value.

TomDeWou Platinum Member Joined: 11/15/2006 Last visit: 1/20/2025 Posts: 1319 Rating: (176)	From my understanding the SQL Server 2008 Installation fails: 12:30:21\|ERROR \|orkerClassicProduct::OnWorkerCompleted()\|(01) ClassicProduct setup result: 90: Info: SQL Installation was not Successful This is why the Configuration of ther SQL fails as well. The WinCC Migration brings SQL 2008, WCF 2008 brings SQL 2005! So there should be a SQL Installation log for SQL 2008 as well. Or try running the SQL Installation manually from D:\InstData\SQL\SQLStarter\SQLStarter.exe

Tim Jackson Posts: 8 Rating: (0)	I see what you are saying, that the migrator should install a second copy of SQL, but fails to do so. The log from SQLStarter, as run by the installer, is present in the O/P, it proceeds as follows. After examining the registry it gets to the point of announcing (as you suggest) 12:25:30 SQLServer 2008_R2 - Side By Side Installation Required.. then running 12:25:30 Launching Installer D:\InstData\SQL\SQL2008R2EXP\SQLEXPR_x86_ENU.exe /HIDECONSOLE /q /ConfigurationFile=C:\WINDOWS\Setup\SQLServerData\ConfigurationFile.ini which after 5 minutes returns with 12:30:16 Result - RunAppAndWait 90 It then checks the registry again, finds SQL V10 still not there and announces 12:30:16 CheckSoftware SQLServer2008 \| NOT Installed I ran the above SQLEXPR_x86_ENU.exe command as a batch file, less the first two options, and it ran to completion successfully without message or error. That seems to have cured the problem. Odd though, and annoying. Thanks for your help. Tim
