migration S5-Analog issues Units +Resolution

the_anais2 Member Joined: 3/1/2010 Last visit: 3/12/2015 Posts: 7 Rating: (0)	Hello, I have a problem to understand the difference between units & resolution in step5, this is my example : I have a S5-CPU 115U 942 which uses Analog modules : Input 460-7LA11 (2048 units)/Output : 470-7LA12(1024 units) when reading rhe s5 pgm : the 2048 pts go to 16384 in ACCU for inputs & 1024 units go to16384 for outputs so it's not the same thing as S7 ( 27684 go to 27684!!!!) so what's the meaning of 2048/1024 units???!!!! and how to know which resolution a S5 analog module gives really to know which ratio use when migrating. many thanks SBH

the_anais2 Member Joined: 3/1/2010 Last visit: 3/12/2015 Posts: 7 Rating: (0)	hello, thank you for your help, I've aleady seen this link, the problem that they say :16384 units are only used for R64 modules, but I have a 6ES5460 7LA11, which is a 2048 units but when migrating the level goes to 16384 !!!!!

ArviK Posts: 5 Rating: (1)	Hey, S5 analog value is in higher 13 bits. So the real value is just shifted left by 3, in other words multiplied by three times by 2. Lower 3 bits are status bits, signalling overflow or fault. So your analog input word 16 bits consists of 13 bits analog value plus 3 bits status value. To get real analog value, shift it to right by 3, that means divide three times by two or just by 8. 16384 / 8 = 2048 In the 115 manual, page 10-39 it is explained with examples.
