Thanks.

Fafner Silver Member Joined: 3/20/2013 Last visit: 3/11/2025 Posts: 676 Rating: (44)	if you want to communicate with a third party slave you have, of course, to use the modbus master module. you do not have to call the blocks in OB 100. the logical address that you have to address depends on your third party device. please read the manual of the device and have a look at the modbus manuals of siemens. e.g. http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/9260793 one additional hint: which platform are you using? in STEP 7 V13 are the blocks the blocks for modbus and et 200s already integrated in "Instructions > communication > communication processors > et 200s serial interface" there is also a useful help if you press F1 while focussing a block.

Thanks

I would prefer to call it in OB1/or a FB there. but as u wish. The used adresses have normaly to be the same in OB100 and OB1.

CALL S_MODB , "MODSL_IDB_SI_1" LADDR :=264 // : Modul Address it should be 256 for modbus master..??? In OB 100 i found the following DB42 & DB43 transfer in DB40.DBW4 and DB41.DBW4 why we are transfering this. L 42 //DB_NO 42 T "SEND_WORK_DB DB40.DBW4 L 43 //DB_NO 43 T "RECV_WORK_DB DB41.DBW4 If i not use the OB100 should i past these instruction in OB1 before deleting.

andrew_pj Posts: 30 Rating: (0)	Dear Sir, Currently I am doing similar thing using6ES7138-4DF11-0AB0 module for modbus communication. I have been able to have communication with Modbus Slave. For testing purpose I use ModSim software connected to the module using RS485/232 converter. I think the sample program from Siemens works fine. You just need to make sure configuration in hardware and software is correct. For example the wiring is using RS485, then in module configuration also needs to be same. Please try to open SEND_SI_0 [FC21], take note the tag in the 1st row (TRIGGER_SEND). Go Online, and open Watch Table. Modify TRIGGER_SEND into TRUE. Now you might see Tx LED blinking. Then if connection to modbus slave is established, Rx LED will blink as well. At the moment I have an issue with using more than 1 function code. In this sample program, it is using function code no 1. I need to use function code no 3 and 16 at the same time.
