Exception responses are returned by the slave to the master when the slave understands the request, but cannot perform the operation requested for some reason. For example, the function code is not supported, the address requested is not within the slave database range etc.
The error code 8383 decodes as:-

Error in the data address or address is not in the range of the valid area of MB_HOLD_REG

So this would suggest that the master is trying to access a data address that is ot a valid area of the slave data area. Now you setup the slave data area as part of your configuration. This configuration is known as the slave device memory / data map. This is normally given to the vendor of the master device so that they know what data is available, where it is stored and what the purpose of the data is.

So in this case, to help, we would need to know how you have configured your slave device memory map and also what the master is requesting form the slave (e.g. data type, read / write, start address, amount of data).

The solution will be either to reconfigure the slave so that it has the data the master is expecting, or to reconfigure the master to only access the data that the slave has available.
