Hi everybody.

I'm currently looking for a way to connect our simulation-system to the Simotion 435-2 DP/PN.

The problem is: We need a fast communication system with very short buscycle times (<500 microsecs).

Our first choice was to use Profinet IRT for realization but unfortunately there is no way to implement a Profinet IRT connection on the simulation-platform due to missing hardware components.

So we would now like to know if there's a way to implement a MODBUS TCP connection on the Simotion device as we have found a way to send and receive data via Modbus in short bus cycle times.

Do you see any possibility for that?

If so, do you think the interface would meet our requirements (bus cycle time below 500 microseconds)?

Or are there any other protocol types you can think of that would meet the requirements (besides Profinet)?

We have a standard ethernet controller connected to our simulator. 

Does nobody have a clue?

I'm aware of the fact that this topic already came up a few times in this forum but unfortunately nobody has given any helpful answers yet.

Has anybody implemented Modbus on Simotion already?

Modbus with simotion is possible (FB's available)  but not I-synchronious and 500µs via TCP is very sophisticated.

As mentioned, prefere using a gateway. 

 

 Where can I find the Modbus FB's? I would like to communicate to a device via modbus TCP (fast communication not needed).
