Module Drivers Problem in Running Plant

Yoga Shankar Posts: 288 Rating: (22)	Hi All, We have a running Plant with 417-4H CPU along with PCS7 V7.0 SP1. The Project consists of 2 AS stations. In one of the AS stations , all of a sudden all the Channel driver modules have started giving QBAD. The OMODE_xx to the mode parameters of these blocks are reading 16#40xxxxxx. We have not made any changes to the existing set up. We need to keep the plant running at all costs. Please suggest a method of eliminating the QBAD from module driver blocks. We have tried cycling the Power to the ET-200M racks and then going to the MOD_1 block generated for that particular rack and then toggled the ACC_MODE parameter between 1 & 0. Please suggest any possible solutions. The most dangerous problem is that the QBAD signal from the channel driver, although connected to the Control modules (CSF parameter), is not making the Control signals "0". The Logic is working without any sort of failues. This is frighteneing because any diagnostic problems in the future also might not stop the logic and render the DCS unreliable. Please help us out ASAP...........................we are literally sitting on the mouth of a volcano....!!!!

R&R Posts: 69 Rating: (3)	Dear shankar, 1)check the license.because sometimes PO exceeds means compare to your license also this problem happens. 2)if it is possible reset all the programs and download it from plant view.Before that compile it and then check in log file.If it is any problem it should shows in download menu,You should see what is the problem exactly. 3)check any unwanted OB's or FB's are loaded. 4)during online you should check in diagonastic buffer also. Yoga Shankar Posts: 288 Rating: (22)	Dear Jotst, CPU reset is not possible. In the CPU diagnostics buffer, I find messages related to DP redundancy "make & break" only. The CPU is continuously showing the EXTF. Is there any other diagnostic method possible??

Yoga Shankar Posts: 288 Rating: (22)	Dear All, The actual problem was that somebody had managed to make an incomplete download of hardware config into the system in run. After we made a "Download in STOP" of the HW config to the system, the problem vanished as it had started, in one instant. We have no idea how this happened, though. If someone could explain any possibilities leading to this, It could help in the root cuase analysis.
