Module property change without download

Hello everyone hope you are doing fine. 

Is there any possible way to change an AI module's setting from 4 wire transmitter to 2 wire transmitter without a download to PLC. So most likely it would be some logic in the PLC to change the settings of the module and this setting would executed through the HMI. 

I am using a S7-1200 PLC.

Please resolve a confusion for me: where in the hardware configuration of the PLC is it set that a 4-wire or 2-wire transmitter is used? What type of analog module is being used?

The S7-1200 system manual contains the wiring diagrams for the different transmitters.
