Mounting Rail for 12 Modules in S7-300 Expansion Rack

smoothop Posts: 5 Rating: (0)	Hi I have been informed that the S7-300 expansion racks may have up to 12 I/O max if the IM153-2 HF is used. That is great news. However, when looking at the available moutning rails the following sizes are available: 160 mm 482mm 530mm 830mm 2000mm The standard bus module is 97mm wide for 2 devices and there is no good fit for 12 modules. 482/97=5 modules/10 devices (PS, IM, 8 I/O) 530/97=5 modules/10 devices (PS, IM, 8 I/O) 830/97=8 modules/16devices(PS, IM,12 I/O, about 6in of wasted space) Why is there not a mounting rail at around 679mm for (PS, IM, 12 I/O). Are you allowed to cut the 830mm or am I missing something here?

Are you allowed to cut the 830mm or am I missing something here? Hello, The stanadard bus modules is 97 mm wide but there is socket in its side which should be plugged with the next bus unit. For this sake the effective width is less than 97 mm and it's equal to width of two ET200 M modules which is 80mm. Bus units is used with racks that comming with inset remove feature. It is more deep than standard racks to accomodate the bus modules. The available lengthes is as follows 483 mm, 530mm, 620mm, and 2000mm Part numbers is as follows: 6ES7195-1GA00-0XA0; 483 mm 6ES7195-1GF30-0XA0; 530 mm 6ES7195-1GG30-0XA0; 620 mm 6ES7195-1GC00-0XA0; 2000 mm No. of modules that could be accomodated in these racks depends on do you use one IM153-2 or two (Red bundle). Do you use Power Supply (S7-300 design on rack or not), ...etc. Suppose that we have Red bundle. Then The 12 module +2 IM modules = 14 module * 40 mm width = 560mm So the rack 620mm is suitable for accomodate 12 modules. NB: There is no racks with 160mm width available for bus units. These racks are used for standard ET200M / S7-300 IOs without Bus units and its part numbers as following: 6ES7390-1AB60-0AA0; 160 mm 6ES7390-1AE80-0AA0; 480 mm 6ES7390-1AF30-0AA0; 530 mm 6ES7390-1AJ30-0AA0; 830 mm 6ES7390-1BC00-0AA0; 2000 mm And when using racks with 2000 mm width, you can cut it with the required width without any problems.
