Moving failsafe blocks runtime groups

Guddu123 Regular Member Joined: 4/17/2009 Last visit: 10/9/2024 Posts: 28 Rating: (0)	Hi, We are using 417-4H Fail SAFE SYSTEM with PCS7.0 SP1,S7 F system6.0 and fail safe lib 1.2 Sp4. Our project is in commissioned and currently under production. For clearing punch point we have to move runtime groups of some fail safe block i.e. earlier FB in 4/81 OB35 and want to move to 9/11 OB35. But as per the fail safe attached manual step7_s7_f_fh_systems_programming_operating _manual_en-US.pdf A5E00085588-05 " The automatically generated F-Runtime groups must not be shifted. Changes must not be made within this F-Runtime group, either. " But we are not surewill it cause any shutdown after downloading changes? Is there more or confirmedinformation to know if we move the Fail safe block runtime groups then before downloading we need to take shutdown or there is possibility of occuring shutdown after downloading changes in run time? Smulekar™ Posts: 27 Rating: (2)	Dear Pradip, As far as i remember the shifting of the block as you mentioned does not require shut down or restart. Even i had done this during commissioning. Ofcoures i had tried this on simumator before i had to implemented, In your case you can also try it on the simulator before experiment and show it to the customer. Even in some cases i has shifted the blocks from one OB to another OB, even then it did not ask for shutdown(but this was in the case of non failsafe) Regards, Smulekar™

I found the thread on support What should you watch out for when creating or moving F runtime groups and using the F library "Failsafe Blocks (V1_2)" or "Failsafe Blocks (V1_1)"? As per my experinecetesting failsafe program on simulator sometimes not behaves same as testing on actual PLC. Ihad a experience where i tested program on simulator and worked ok but when i downloaded to actual PLC itcaused shutdown. Thx Guddu123

Phantom75 Posts: 2661 Rating: (279)	Hi Guddu123, I am curious about this punch list item that requires moving the block in the run sequence!If the plant is running now, it will also run the same after moving the block!Also, moving one block will have virtually no impact on the response. Any way, if you move the F blocks, it is likely that after a compile the blocks may shift back to old postion. The safety signature will change and you will have to deactivate safety mode for downloading changes. In my opinion that is not good and is risky. If I were you, I would wait till plant shutdown to check-off this "super-critical" punch list item! Regards
