MP277B - Cannot estabilsh Connection?

markallinson Regular Member Joined: 12/2/2008 Last visit: 11/30/2023 Posts: 20 Rating: (0)	Hi All, I have a control cubicle with an S7-300 PLC and an MP270B, all works fine, super dooper! I have built another cubicle, the same as the first, but fitted with an MP277B. I cannot get the programmer to establish comms with the screen. I have checked all of the settings and everyting appears to be the same as the older MP270B screen. I have resorted to swapping the screens and can communicate with the MP270B on both systems, but not the MP277B on either system. Can anyone suggest what may be the problem. Checked the MPI cable - OK Checked the MP277B has MPI enabled and is set to the only master as per the MP270B. - OK Checked the software is looking at the appropriate directories (as the MP277B used an SD card rather then a Compact Flash) - OK Edited the device type in Win CC - OK Had a cup of tea after swearing at the screen for not working - OK! Any help would be much appreciated. Regards Mark Allinson

When you go to Connections in WinCC flexible, you see MP277B connected to CPU by MPI. There is a line: is it connected (Straight) Best regards, Wizard

I've looked in NetPro and yes the CPU and HMI are both shown on the MPI network, addresses 2 and 1 respectively. In WinCC the MP277B and CPU are shown connected by MPI. As I say it's fine with an MP270B screen but not an MP277B. I do have more MP277B screens so I'l go and try another one just in case the first is faulty. Regards Mark

If you don't see the hmi device, you should check the cable, baud rate, etc. Do you want to transfer your WinCC flexible project to the MP277B or do you want to establish a connectio to a plc? If you want to transfer your project, maybe this faq will help you: http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/23802404 If you want to establish a connection to the plc, maybe your connection settings are not correct. The MP270B screen uses port 1, the MP277B uses port 2 despite the fact it only has 1 port! So in the end it was really quite simple!!! Thanks for the responses and suggestions. Regards Mark
