I`m thinking using Stahl ET-208, see attached datasheet.
We need to use existing cabling so I was thinking using a MPI interface. According to the datahseet from Stahl support the panel MPI on RS485 / RS-422.

Somebody have tested these?

don't have right experience but in my opinion you have to set all inside panel SW, also there must be some reference to Master on MPI (PLC), which MPI address, speed. I see probably ok your till time definition of TAGs (memory) for data Exchange with this way. [snip]

We planning to use:
1 piece Stahl ET-208
1 piece Stahl MPI-Box-SSW7-RK512-RS-422

Will these work?

MPI communication is on RS-422 ???

 in manual of ET-208 you can read, that it supports MPI with Box SSW7-RK512-RS-422.

RS-485 is based on RS-422 and it´s for MPI / Profibus / Modbus.

I would ask Stahl, which PLC you should use / is compatible.

sry but still isn't clear to me why you want use that adapter. In your previous topic we talk about direct connection possibility with S7 CPU via MPI, no need probbaly other adapter. On other side is RK512 protocol with RS-422 so I see this like problem (hope I good understand that RK512 iden in name of adapter). Can you post real reason why you want implement that adapter? Maybe I'm wrong but this isn't clear to me.

Update: aaaaaa now probably understand your situation, you have probably set RK512 protocol on some CP which you have connected/expected on S7-400? But this is also strange in case of MPI port exisiting on S7-400. Can you confirm?

I will give you full information.

I only have to pair to use from the cabinet to the panel in the field.

Project 1:
I need to connect one Stahl ET-208 to the Siemens 400 MPI port.
Stahl informed me I needed these MPI adapter to be able to communicate on MPI.

Project 2:
I need to connect two Stahl ET-208 panels to the same 400 MPI port.
I only have to pair to use for each panel.

Please see attached ET-208 datasheet, the grey box you see on the MPI communication is the MPI adapter according to Stahl.


So I have two questions:
Will these adapther working against 400 MPI port?
