MPI communication

cemagolane Posts: 23 Rating: (0)	Hi, this is my first post here as I'm a new member. I'm asking for help and my problem is: I'm working with WinCC 6.0 that is communicated to a S7-300 PLC by a MPI/RS232 cable. I have configured in WinCC 6.0 the SIMATIC S7 Protocol Suite and the channel MPI following all the instructions to create a new connection. Apparently it is very easy. My problem is that when I activate the system and check for the "Status Driver Connections", it shows a table that says that the new connection is disconnected. And I obtain this message error: Cannot connect to "NewConnection_1": Errorcode 0xFFDF 42C2! Apparently the connections between PC and PLC are correct andthe address as well. I'm not using any special card to communicate the PC and PLC as I've got the cable MPI/RS232 so I think it's enough. Does anybody have any clue of what it's wrong? Thank you very much. Cesar.

This is the information from the manual for your error code: "Error 42C2 - L4_DLL_E_LOGDEV The logical device is not defined in the registry. ·Communication driver not correctly installed. ·Registry entry destroyed or deleted. ·Check the setting of the logical device name with the program ‘Setting the PG/PC Interface’. ·Check the setting of the logical device name in the window ‘System Parameters-Device’. " Have you done all this? So installed Simatic Net and configured the PG/PC Interface? If not then possibly the WinCC Communication Manual will help - http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/21320307 Regards, Salma
