MPI OLM for of " MPI optical fiber Ring"

The project has 2 sets of Simatic S7417-5H Redundant PLC CPUs. That means we have 4 CPUs in total. The CPUs are mounted at different Kiosks (Locations). We also have one existing workstation at which we have siemens software (Simatic manager) installed. The challenge is that, we want to download code/ Edit PLC online etc. from this workstation. To execute this client has proposed usage of " MPI optical fiber Ring". Now, with reference to the attachment, "MPI usability.xlsx" we are trying to know if this is possible? Up till now, we know that, 6GK1502 .. Profibus OLM can not be used for MPI purpose. Please suggest which MPI OLM is available? Because client says some Siemens engineer was with him while suggesting this configuration. Is there any other way to achieve this? (Client does not want to use profibus DP here !!!) See the following FAQ: Setting up an MPI network with PROFIBUS OLMs You would need to use Profibus-DP instead. Hope this helps, Daniel Chartier

There was MPI optical ring consisting of 3 OLM-G12 V3 (6GK1502-3CB10). PLC was Simatic TDC (CP50M0), which was conected via MPI optical ring to 2 PC-station (CP5611) with HMI Protool-RT. That configuration works fine. There was also Profibus optical ring based on the same type of OLM's. The only difference in configuration of OLM's between MPI and Profibus rings was DIL switch S7 in ON position for MPI. So I'm not sure will your configuration work or not, but if you have OLM's you can test this.
