Specifically i'm trying to get this to work on a pushbutton to sort by date ascending or descending. Then in runtime click on the filter button. Now you can set the filter as desired. Press ok. You are thinking "I want a mouse button press action", we will come to that soon... After you applied the filter in runtime, open the filtersettings again. At the bottum of the opened pop-up window you can see the sql query that is used to apply the filter. Copy that sql query (now you don't have to think how you should configure this). What filter settings is he referring to? I don't see the sql query anywhere [:(]

Salma Gold Member Joined: 9/27/2005 Last visit: 11/27/2007 Posts: 1398 Rating: (151)	To recap, the suggestion is to manually create a filter selection and then copy the filter string into your script [8)] So in Runtime : - click on the Selection button to open the Selection Dialog Box. - manually set your filter - so in this case go to Status and check the "Came in" box. - click ok to close the dialog and apply the filter. - then click on the Selection button a second time. At the very bottom of the dialog box you can see a grey text box, this contains the filter string that has been applied. In this case it should read something like STATE IN (1). You cannot edit this string but you can copy it to the clipboard and paste it into your button script. I hope this makes more sense. Try the above and let us know how you get on. Salma

Big Bear Posts: 27 Rating: (2)	OK I see how that works now :) It wants to use a static date or time. I dont want that. I simply want a button that will allow the operator to choose the last alarm first by date or time. That date could be weeks ago or hours ago depending on how many alarms have triggered. How can I do this?

Salma Gold Member Joined: 9/27/2005 Last visit: 11/27/2007 Posts: 1398 Rating: (151)	Only use the Selection dialog box to get the syntax [:D] You should create your own filter window to allow the operator to present a user friendly selection. One simple way would be to have six IOFields so the operator can select year, month, day, hour, minute and second. Or give them the option to select a shift pattern and a date. Or whatever suits your needs. You will need to calculate the datetime in your script and pass this to the MsgFilterSQL property. In VBS you can use the DateAdd function to calculate a relative date (so two weeks from today). Please have a try and creating this window and script and let us know if you need any help. Salma

Big Bear Posts: 27 Rating: (2)	Under the shown arguments in the MsgFilterSQL I see nothing for first in, last in. We already have designed a full working sort by date, time, or alarm type. All i'm looking for is the argument in the MsgFilterSQL that will enable me to make a pushbutton that will sort the alarm control so the alarms toggle between last first or first first. ie: If I have 200 alarms they are either displayed: 1 2 3 .... 200 or 200 199 198 197 .... 1 Can this be done or not?

One is to use the Sort button on the toolbar. Unfortunately there does not appear to be any scripting way to do this yet. Secondly you can change the MsgCtrlFlags property, as explained in this faq : http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/8751289 Salma

Danielle Posts: 1275 Rating: (123)	Which version do you have? As Salma said, from v6.0 SP3 on yu don't need scripting to sort alarms,sorting isavailable in the alarm object already. Wouldn't that work for you?

Big Bear Posts: 27 Rating: (2)	If you read my post on the issues I'm having with my alarm objects and date/time manipulation as well as multi-language support it explains it in greater depth. Basically, as a work around for a issue with changing the language in my column headers I had to overlay the headers with a new screen replicating the entire header with static text. In doing that I now have covered my sort buttons and need to create a button to perform the same function on this new screen which serves as my header for my alarm control(s).
