Multi user project

Dipsw Posts: 32 Rating: (0)	Hi, I want to create multi user project. like ( One for DM plant(S7-300) and other for Boiler(S7-300)). Both are operated by single PC. If i clearly understood multi user project than is this call as multi user??????? I getting confused on multi user (single server - multi client) ,(Multi server -several client). In my case which is applicable& how? I need more info for multi user projects any link or documents available?????????? Regards, Dip

Danielle Posts: 1275 Rating: (123)	Hi Dip, What exactly are your doubts? Servers have a "multi-user" type project. That icludes all you need for process viewing and controlling, archiving, and generating server packages for the client computers. Client computers have a "Client project"... as youo can see, the client project doesn't have external tags (you can't add any communication drivers), messages or archives to it... the client project gets all tat data from the server package generated by the server project... The stand-alone project means a station s onnly server to itself.. so it has all the process viweing and controlling functioinallities, but doesn't generate a server package with data for clients... Palmerita Posts: 102 Rating: (13)	Hello Dip!! I think what you want to do is a project with more than one PLC connected... am I right? If I understood well, in your project, there is only one PC, that would be a single-user project. The multi-user projects are projects which have more than one PC controlling a plant (with "n" number of PLCs), so, unless your project has more than one PC controlling your both systems (plant and boiler),you need asingle user project. Now what you need to do is to set up the connections to both systems, and this depends on the communication protocol that you are using (e.g. MPI, PROFIBUS, PROFINET, Ethernet...). Usually you do it through the S7 Protocol Suite. Fatso Bronze Member Joined: 9/11/2006 Last visit: 3/17/2022 Posts: 168 Rating: (6)	Hey Dip If i understand you correctly you have one PC station which you will use asan OS server and as an OSclient as well.If thats the case the only option you have is a single OS station configuration.As far as your AS projects are concerned(DM plant(S7-300) and other for Boiler(S7-300) maybe what you need is a Multiproject where you have 2 AS projects and a third OS project allbeing part ofone Multiproject.The PCS 7 - Configuration Manual Engineering System explains in detail.

Understood at least I need to create single user project in which one pc controlling process via both PLC (DM and boiler) I want to use profibus communication. So , i need to Install driver in PC and at plc end CP. but , Main question is there How i switch over DM plant to boiler plant ? Is there need to create seperate picture window than use pop up or else? Still no one send Single or multiuser project documents. I already have getting start and Wincc 6.2 documents by Wincc CD. So lets see... you need a single user project with one pc controlling both PLCs (DM and boilers), until everything is fine. about switching from DM to boiler, you do not need to worry, WinCC has already the drivers to do this automatically, in your case you use the PROFIBUS, so that means that WinCC will scan and send the variables to the PLC at very high speeds. So for the user, is like if all the variables were being updated at the same time =D So.. you only make the connections, put the variables you need, make the graphics for each of them and Voilà!!! WinCC makes the rest for you , no need to worry about separate picture windows =) For the configuration of a Station, the document I attached previously explais it very well, however, I will mark the most important steps for your example You are going to use Profibus... so what you need to do in your WinCC Projectis: 1. Right click (mouse) on Tag Management -> Add New Driver 2. Select SIMATIC S7 Protocol Suite 3. Right click on PROFIBUS -> New Driver Connection 4. Here you must add the parameters from your first PLC (lets say DM). 5. And then add all the tags you need from this PLC.... They MUST be the same type (e.g. boolean, word, etc) and have the same address. For example: in Symbol Library (S7): Address: I0.0 Name: output_1 In WinCC Address: I0.0 Type: Binary Name: MyNameForOutput1 6. Repeat steps from 2 to 5 for boilers 7. Three PC(one engineering and two operator), Two PLC (DM-Boiler) ,comm -profibus sorry for confusing and asking more questions. Regards, Dip
