Multiple OPC Clients

Anders Posts: 20 Rating: (0)	Hello! I'm using Simatic Net PB SoftnetDP 2005 and a CP 5611 PCI-card for communicating with a Simatic S7-200. This works perfectly! Now I need to add a second client to the mix. the second client will communicate with another PC via TCP/IP but need to read some values from the PLC. Is it possible to run two (or more) clients on the same computer and connect them to the same OPC server and read the same values? I'm guessing that I need to create different groups // Anders

Anders Posts: 20 Rating: (0)	Hello, Thank you for your answer, but it's not what I was looking for. The FAQ describes how to set up a Client as a DCOM from a different computer. I wonder if it's possible to run the OPC Server and multiple OPC Clients from the same computer reading the same variables. Since I can run my first client and OPC Scout at the same time it should be possible, but just in case there are som got you's... // Anders

J_Bell Posts: 5822 Rating: (412)	Dear Anders, I know that it works, it depends on the PC you use how many Clients and how much Data you can take form the Server, but the use of two Clients at one Server is no problem, as long as the Clients do not require the full use of the Server. (Some Clients are programmed that way... you may have to check yourself) Best regards J_Bell
