NCK sign-of-life monitoring error

geethurenu Posts: 15 Rating: (0)	Hi everybody, I have a Siemens 840D CNC machine at my workplace.Recently we are facing an issue, Following alarms were visible on the HMI screen, 1.NCK sign-of-life monitoring (400250) 2.Failure of machine control panel1(400260) 3.Waiting for a connection to the NC/PLC(120202) Checked the NCU and found that the 7-segment display is not displaying any digit, but (.) First we have checked the MPI cable connecting PCU and NCU by continuity test and it was found to be OK Then I have done NCK reset via S3 switch ( S3 from 0 to 1; Pressed RESET button; Waited till 6 is displayed on NCU; restrated the whole system; After restart NCU again displayed 6 ; S3 switch is set back from 1 to 0) Loaded the latest NC upgrade into the NCU. Now, the error "Channel 1 block 0 program not existing or will be edited" is frequently coming and machine is going to Emergency Stop. Sometimes "Communication Failure" is also displayed at the screen I would like to get your support regarding the following, 1. Can anybody provide me any document regarding NCU 7-segment LED and status LEDs details 2. While restoring backup into NC card,"error 120202: Communictaion Failure" is getting displayed at the screen in between.But finally all programs are getting loaded and "Job is Ready" status is coming. Is it normal?

Pee Ell Sea Posts: 672 Rating: (57)	HI, During loading of nc and plc back up the system has to reset to refomat the internal memory resulting in comms errors. Wait until complete then look at alarms Pee
