NCU upgrade

ACSP Posts: 25 Rating: (1)	Hello everyone, We have a cnc grinding machine that has 611d -840d. I have been task to install more dressing programs. The problem I run into is I get an alarm whenever i try to load the program from HD-NC, insufficient memory(s) on nc. I was wondering if there is a easy upgrade of the ncu, even a direct replacement. The NCU thats in there now is a NCU 572.2 6fc5357-0bb21-0ae0. We are planning on adding more programs in the future, so any help is apprecated.

You can deselect the program which is not used in the machine.Unload it back to the NC-> HD and then load the program what you requried. or you can connect a PC from there you can run your part program...there is option called Execution from external ,from this you can Run your program via RS232 (you need to send the data from the PC and select Execution from external) Check this may be useful. Pee El Sea Gold Member Joined: 1/19/2008 Last visit: 10/2/2024 Posts: 992 Rating: (64)	It is fairly unsual on an 840D to run out of part program memory unless your using post processed five axis code. Make sure the standard Siemens cycles haven't been loaded as these are not required and use up memory. You can replace the NCU for a higher spec but it will be expensive as it will have to be an outright spares purchase. Upgrading to a current ncu would require software purchase and plc work. Speak with your local Siemens applications department to get a part number. Don't speak to the spares department until you have a part number as they won't have the knowledge to help. Pee
