Need help to select hardware

Hello,

I am new to Siemens. 

I was worked a lot with Arduino but finally decided to try with a siemens.

My hardware configuration  is the following :

A rotary encoder like this one, or similar.

The encoder will be reading the length of the rope, and at a certain moment it should send the signal to the AC motor driver via RS 485.

The human should be able to select the desired length of the rope on HMI.

I have also few heaters, running on physical PID controllers. I don't know if Siemens offer integrated PID software(without lagging), if so I can exclude PID controllers, but I need to know if Siemens block have also K Thermocouple IN for reading temperature...

Finally, I am looking for:

• HMI panel
• Siemens Logo 8 ?,
• RS 485 for servo motor 
• PID software for Temperature control, withK Thermocouple IN,  if exist.

Please suggest the hardware to select/purchase and best software for developing

After study some documents looks I need next hardware:

• SIMATIC S7-1200 + KTP400 Basic - Starter Kit (PLC  where I can connect rotary encoder. There are also few analog inputs, not sure if I can use them for K type thermocouple and simulate PID with output thru integrated relays on PLC + HMI where I can operate with basic settings) 

• 6ES7 241-1CH32-0XB0 Siemens S7-1200, COMMUNICATION MODULE CM 1241 ( I can send signal to the motor driver via RS 485)

  And what about sowtware license is it included to such kit ?

You are almost strike to 10 by your choose.

So here is your all hardware:

Controller S7-1200 series good choose: it have high speed counter - to connect your encoder, it have PID blocks so control heaters so here is no problem

HMI - you can use any basic from 3'' to 15'' or comfort from 4'' to 22'' but better must have PROFINET connection to PLC

6ES7 241-1CH32-0XB0 RS 485 for servo motor here is good choose

For temperature you need put AI module 6ES7 231-5QD32-0XB0 to read K type thermocouple

Now about software newest is TIA portal V17 you can download it but all TIA software must be licensed you can download trial and try it. If you whant you can use earler versions of TIA it will work with S7-1200 PLC

start with Simatic starter kit is a good idea. 
6AV6651-7KA02-3AA4 is S7-1212 PLC and KTP400 touch panel
6AV6651-7HA02-3AA4 is S7-1212 PLC and KP300 display (for very simple tasks)
Booth starter kits contains all SW instalations and licences you need.
Remember, PLC in starter kits is AC/DC/Relay version, 85-264 VAC power, 24 VDC inputs (PLC products 24 VDC/ 0,3 A internally) and relay outputs. S7-1212 is olso limited in allowed count of expanding modules (from right side), you can use only 2 (on higher S7-1200 up to 8).

For RS485 communication you can use CM1241 module you allready find or a cheaper communication board CB1241 which gives you the same service.
All S7-12xx have build in 2 analog inputs, but those are only 0-10 V. For thermocouple you need analog signal converter or addon SM1231 module. You can choice 6ES7231-5QD32-0XB0 with 4 thermocouple inputs or 6ES7231-5QF32-0XB0 with 8 AINs. There is olso SB1231 with only one thermocouple input, but you can use only one expanding board at one PLC.
With S7-1212 you can connect max 4 IRC A/B phase encoders (when you do not use zero mark or other signals), so one IRC you can use as you wish.
S7-1200 suport 3 kinds of SW PID regulators, one of them is optimized for temperature control. You do not wrote, how you control your heaters. If you buy starter kit PLC, remember you can not use PWM control in case of its relays.

i have ordered 6AV6651-7KA02-3AA4 stater kit with 400hmi + rs 475 communication module, which to be fitted to plc

hope Ill enjoy with Siemens software and hardware )))

next week it should arrive  )))
