Hello, Thank you for the information you provided. My specific case is that I have a project programmed with TIA Portal V13. There is one PLC and one HMI WinCC RT Advanced both programmed with TIA Portal V13. I need to migrate to TIA V16 to enable PLC OPC UA capabilities. Will I be able to edit the HMI software from the TIA Portal V16 ? Or do I need to upgrade the HMI license on the PC Host ? I don't need any of the HMI V16 capabilities. Understanding WinCC versions is very complicated to me. Thank you in advance for your help. Guillaume ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ |

If you want ease of use and ease of programming with everything in a single project, then I absolutely agree with the prior post suggesting a single license for TIA Portal v17 (which will work for every portal version 17 and earlier). You will want to make sure the V13 project is updated to V13 SP2 first. Then TIA Portal V16 can open it and upgrade (not migrate - which is the term Siemens uses for S7-300 / 400 -> TIA Portal and possibly to S7-1500 as well). WinCC version needs to match TIA Portal version for HMI development.
