Network issue with a 315 2DP/PN

I currently have a cognex camera set up on the profinet network that works fine. I then have a PC using kepware to handshake with the PLC all I'm reading/writing is boolean data (42 tags to be correct) both units go through a switch, (Phoenix FL SWITCH SFN 8TX). Both devices are fixed IP's no DHCP I then connect my local network to the switch so that I can communicate to both devices from my laptop. My problem is when I connect the PC via the switch using a hard network cable periodically kepware times out with lost communication to PLC. I have spoken to Kepware who were very helpfull, we have managed by altering scan time to lower then occurances of my problem but have been unsuccessful in eliminating the problem. The twist to the tale is that if I run the PC via it's built in wireless I don't have a communication issue and that stumped Kepware a bit. I cannot run this mode at the customer as they do not allow wireless systems to operate on the shopfloor so I have to run with a hard line connection. I have been looking into my hardware config settings but am reluctant to make some radical changes at the moment, can anybody HELP.

The camera solution is it sending the data over the same ports of this switch as are used for the communication of the OPC Data? For example the video and the OPC Data need to be transfered to the same laptop/PC? If so I think this are not network problems but your switch is not suitable enough or your camera is using to many bandwidth. Or the camera data is propably sended with priority (QoS) like ProfiNet IO uses, this means that this data will be handled as soon as possible by the switch, the other data could be delayed. Then knowing that OPC reacts on a first possible response basis this could be the cause, it could also be that the data provided to the network card is too much for the card. Best will be to reduce the data used for the camera since this seems to be the most data consuming part of the applacation.

They have two ethernet ports one called connection the other connection2. I ended up moving over to connection2 since then I have had no comms issues. This was done after I spoke to the supplier of the PC system, informed me that he has seen trouble in the field with the main connection, I think he's going back to his supplier to see what can be done. After I provved the problem I did take a look at my Profinet set up and I have reduced the Communication Componenet setting to 75% as I am not transferring a lot of data from the Cognex camera anyway. Even with this lower setting have not noticed and degredation of camera performance. Once again thanks Tonk
